The 3 Types of Plateaus and How to Break Them

If you are feeling stuck then you are most likely in one of three different types of plateaus. They are 1) a "Drama" plateau, 2) a "Math" plateau, or 3) a "Blind" plateau. Let's go over them more in each depth and address how to get out of them.

A "Drama" plateau is when you know what you should be doing, yet you still don't do it. All of the advice that everyone says makes sense to you, but the motivation and follow through is nowhere to be found. You feel frustrated, out of control and can easily dig yourself into a bigger hole. One phrase that I always use with my clients is that there is math and drama to every solution. In this case the math is easy, we know what to do, but it's the drama that gets in our way. The good news is that all the drama that you are experiencing is self created and can easily be changed if you a) know how to and b) choose to. These blog posts will go over EVERYTHING on how to do both of them.

Next we have the "Math" plateau. A math plateau is when you have "tried everything" but still can't get to your goal. Drama is not an issue here, we have the motivation and determination, but it is quickly getting sucked dry since our efforts are coming up short. Think of the math as the steps towards getting to where you want to get to. If you want to complete 200 push ups in 10 days then you will need to do at least 20 push ups per day. That's the math. If you do the math, you will achieve your goal of reaching 200 push ups in 10 days. So, if you are not reaching your goal then there is no reason to panic... All that means is that you just don't have the right math yet! I guarantee you that there is a way. There is always a way. In these blog posts I will go over more in depth on how to figure out how to find your exact formula for "the math".

Finally, we have the "Blind" plateau. This is the plateau where we have done the math, got past the drama and still aren't happy! It's like when you make a goal of losing 15 lbs and you imagine that life will finally be great once you get there... and then you get there and you still aren't happy. More good news. The achievement of the goal itself never had and never will have the power to make you feel a certain way. We get "blind" to that. We assume that it is the goal that makes us happy, but it is not.

I'll leave with this. Pick the weight, body image, amount of money or whatever it is that you want and then ask yourself if every single person on the face of the earth would be happy with that goal once they got it.

If your answer is yes, then I'd like to hear your explanation why. Hit me up at
